Enrolment Information for preps for 2027

Our school zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

Prep (Foundation) enrolments for 2027 

The Department of Education has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Topirum Primary School.

What you need to do:

 

Check this website for school tours in term 2, 2026 (after Easter). Contact our school reception to book a school tour or to learn more about our school and the enrolment application process.

A school tour is highly recommended if you intend to apply for enrolment. Book your place with Divya or Tarneem, our reception

officers on the school phone number 5929 2999. The tour is conducted by the principal, Marc de Ley, or a member of the school leadership team. All tours will start from the school library and will last approximately 30 minutes, with an opportunity to ask questions.  

 

Parent Information Session about enrolling in Prep for 2027

This is a more detailed presentation about the school including its curriculum program, school facilities and learning program. There will be information about our Out of School Care Program as well. The session is led by the school principal and key staff. It will also outline the enrolment process, transition from kinder to school and other important information. Even if you do a tour, attendance at this session is highly recommended. 

 

KEY STEPS- to be updated for 2027 

  1. Obtain the FORM TO ENROL IN A VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT SCHOOL- FOR TOPIRUM PRIMARY SCHOOL from the school reception. Available after the school tours and information session (dates above). Otherwise can be picked up during normal school hours.
  2. Submit this completed enrolment form (preferrably in person hard copy) by ** , to the school reception. 
  3. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between **. 
  4. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2025.
  5. Prepare your child to start Prep from **.

Enrolment applications submitted after 25 July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Students enrolled for prep 2026, will be invited to participate in a transition session on the following dates:

An Information Session for parents of students enrolled for prep 2027, will be held on ** . This session will provide details for the preparation of your child for school. It will be run by the school principal, leadership team and prep teaching team. 

 

Prep 2027 Orientation Morning Session, on **. This will run from 9.00am to 10.00am. Your child will meet their class teacher for 2027 and be in their designated classroom for the session. They will get a showbag. 

 

Dates 2026

 

Preps start school on Thursday 29th January, 2026

 

The following dates are no school for preps:

Wednesday 4th February

Wednesday 11th February

Wednesday 18th February

Wednesday 4th March

 

These days, students will be scheduled for an assessment with their class teacher. 

 

From Wednesday 11th March, preps attend school all 5 days.
